39 Squares...

I've decided to create an embroidered sampler inspired by Amy at Inspire Co. and 39 Squares. I haven't done anything like this since I was a kid, so I'm kind of excited to begin this little project. For 39 days, we will be creating a square each day using embroidery floss, buttons, and other embellishments. Pop on over to Amy's blogs to see her inspiring samplers. They're so sweet and cheery.

This is quite a commitment on my part-- I'm the queen of buying project materials and never following through and finishing. Although I'm doing this as a creative outlet, I'm also doing this as an exercise in self-discipline. It's just one, 1-inch square a day (and NOT micro-stitched, like Rosanna's beauties! This is a 1:1 project!). I can do this. I can do this... okay, wish me luck! Oh, and don't worry, I'll post my squares once a week so you can see how it's going!

Hugs,

Hi Jill!
This is a really great idea. I haven't done any embroidery in years.
I only know how to do about four stitches!
I'm busy working on my dollhouse right now or I might just join you.
Can't wait to see your squares!

Can't wait to see how it turns out Jill. I love Amy's blog!
Whenever I make something I always challenge myself to only use what I have, sometimes I surprise myself with what can be made from the things I have stashed all over the house!

Hi Jill! I'm participating in Amy's 39 squares project too... although mine will have 42. I already did my 1st square, just a little early because I have to work all day tomorrow (eww!) and Amy said it wasn't cheating to do it the night before so you could post the next day! It was super fun, quick, and I wanted to keep going and do my next square! LOL! I'm looking forward to seeing yours! You can do it Jill... go Jill, go Jill!!!

Good luck! I just finished an original punch needle rug for my log cabin in miniature DH is slowly building for me! And I've been wanting to get back to embroidering in tiny scale. Like you, I am a famous starter of lots of varied projects but not so huge on finishing!

Best of luck with the project. I look forward to seeing your weekly squares. Carol :) xx
