More pictures of the new bathroom

I was just looking at the last post and I thought it might be nice to add some more close-up photos of the new bathroom. As much as I've tried, I have come to the realization that I cannot grow an orchid. Problem solved... I found this "permanent" one at Target. The towels and nightlight also came from Target. (Did I tell you I love Target? Oh yeah, I did.)

I added this little ornament to the knob of the cupboard. I found it in a lovely little shop in East Sacramento called The French Hen. I love the little beads and shells.

I've had this tray for several years... found it at Bath & Bodyworks, I think. I still like it after all this time, so I was happy to be able to repurpose it for this new room.

Ah, but these are my favorite things... the shower curtain and the curtain hooks! Don't you just love those "vintage glass knobs"?! And the curtain kind of reminds me of my favorite store, Anthropologie, but without the big price tag. You've gotta' love it!

A finished room!

Ta-da! I actually finished a project! The main bathroom is finished! I ended up doing an extra coat of paint, and it really made a difference. I was a little concerned there for a while. I really like how the color turned out. The mirror and the little cabinet (below) were left by the previous owners, and they work in perfectly with my style.
Can I tell 'ya how much I love Home Goods and Target? Well, I will. I love Home Goods and Target. All my textiles came from Target, and the hardware came from Home Goods. (Marsha, thank you for the housewarming gift card xo!)
It's so nice to look into a room and see it finished, with no tarps, no ladders, and no boxes! My next goal is to finish my bedroom. I need to paint the closet doors and trim, and hang the curtains... and then finish unpacking/sorting so I can actually decorate. Oh the list goes on...
Tomorrow I have about three tree service companies coming out to give me estimates on a tree removal, stump/root grinding and clean-up. My yard is officially the ugliest yard on the block. The lawn died before I moved in (it was a bank-owned home), so I'm just going to tear the whole thing up and start over. Another project for the list!

Can a person have too much aqua?

This doesn't look aqua to me in the photo, but it is. I just finished painting the main bathroom walls. No more dark green. I was going for a relaxing spa feel with this "A Charmed Life" color by Dutch Boy. This is the first time I've used Dutch Boy, and I won't know if I completely like it until tomorrow when I know it's totally dried. Right now, well, I'm trying not to panic. I see streaks and I'm hoping they'll be gone when it's dry! I've never had streaks before. Okay, breathe. It's paint. I can always do another coat if I have to...

Laundry room

Okay, so it's not really a laundry room. It's more of a laundry corner... of the garage. And yes, I painted the wall aqua/blueish. Just because the laundry is in the garage doesn't mean you can't decorate it, right? I even have cute things to store my cleaning supplies, detergent and dryer fluffies in. I found the dryer fluffy container at an antique store. It was originally used to store medical tools.
This is a close-up of the wall vinyl that I recieved in the mail today. (Found it on ebay) I immediately put it on the wall! It's not perfectly straight, but that's my fault. I just eye-balled it 'cuz that's how I am. I still like it!
Little by little I'm getting moved into my new home. I've just been taking it one box at a time. It's going well, but I wish I could look into a room and not see boxes. I'm getting anxious to paint some more rooms! I really want to nest, but I feel obligated to finish the unpacking.
I'll be sure to post photos as my house begins to "morph" into my style. Right now most of the walls are painted in very deep, heavy colors like gold, rust, dark green, and navy blue. It's going to take a lot of primer, but I'll be changing over to light and airy colors-- coastal colors.
Stay tuned! My nest will start looking more like mine soon!
