I'm embarrassed to admit to all of you amazing miniaturists that I didn't build my house, nor can I say that it is vintage. It's the Real Good Toys EasyBuild Classic Colonial with the porch addition. (I'm trying to say that as proudly as I can.) As in, you can build it in an hour. Did I? Eh, nope. I didn't even do that! I bought it assembled. I was terrified of jumping into building a house! However, I did break down and wire it for electricity, and I've changed out the flooring. I'm in the process of covering the walls now.
You see, I've got some kind of mental block about wallpaper. I've never been a big fan of it in big houses, although I must say it looks great in the mini houses I've looked at. I'm just very indecisive! So, I've started papering my little house in solid colors. Yes, I know... it's kinda' boring, but give me time and I'll make a decision on some cute wallpaper! I need to take baby steps, that's all. The fact that I actually wired my house is HUGE. All that fussing, and then that tapewire was amazingly easy!
The picture above is of my hasty application of tapewire! The instructions said to draw the lines, and well, I didn't and it shows. :) You can see the new flooring in the pictures. I think I'm going to like it. The picture doesn't show it, but since taking this picture I've covered the kitchen and room above with white paper, and the big bedroom in blue. The blue is a bit dark, so I may do chair rails with another (lighter) wallpaper on the top.
I guess until I make those decisions, I'll continue to take more baby steps... baby steps... baby steps...

It looks wonderful, Jill! Another thing you can do is wallpaper or paint a piece of cardstock and place it against the walls and live with it for awhile. If you like it, then there it is. If not, pull it out and try something else :)
Jill, it really doesn't matter how you came about your dollhouse . . . the matter is that you have one! LOL!! I'd take a dollhouse no matter how it came to me . . . in fact my first dollhouse (the Beacon Hill) came by way of the trash!
Good for you on electrifying your dollhouse . . . you'll be so glad you did . . . it really adds another dimension. If you're hestitant about adding wallpaper, you could apply it to posterboard and use double-sided tape to adhere it to the walls. I know several people who do this because they like to change out their wallpaper periodically and don't want the fuss of removing and reapplying.
Best of luck!
Your dollhouse is so wonderful Jill. You take such cute pictures. I love the inviting porch. Hey I'm tagging you so please go to my blog to see what its about. Mini hugs!
Thanks so much for that great advise about using the posterboard. I LOVE that! I think that is the absolute perfect solution for me! I will definitely be trying that!
I love your dollhouse and could look at a million pics of it and not get tired! I don't have a dollhouse (yet) so I live through everyone else's.
Hi Jill, I think I've had more fun with my porch than any other room in the house, I don't know why, it was just very easy to get carried away!
